Google Team Drive
Free, unrestricted, self managed storage for shared data is available with the new Gsuite offering, Google Team Drive.
The drawbacks is that the space is not suitable for real time applications. It's a great place to keep documents for your research group and save archival data. We have some methods for quick and efficient transfer of data from you ICS home directory.

ICS Account/ICS Gsuite Password Synchronization to End
At the beginning of 2021, ICS Computing Support began managing ICS account passwords and ICS Gsuite passwords separately. As a result, a new tool will be needed to change ICS Gsuite passwords. There will be no changes to the way that ICS account passwords are managed.
- To change the password for your ICS account, please continue to use https://password.ics.uci.edu.
- To change the password for your ICS Gsuite account, please log in to your ICS Gsuite account (https://www.gmail.com) and use this Google Tool.

White Listing Addresses
The easiest way to whitelist an email address or prevent email from that account from going into your Gmail Spam folder is to add that email address to your Gmail Contact list. See this Google guide on using Contacts.
The other way to prevent an email message from going to Spam would be to set a filter for the email address not to be sent to the inbox. You can filter for a single email address or for an entire domain such as @uci.edu or @ics.uci.edu. See the following example.
Note: An additional filter is required in order to prevent your Sent items from appearing in your Inbox when filtering the entire domain you are sending from.
Create a Gmail filter to White List UCI Addresses
These step by step directions create a filter that effectively whitelists any email from an UCI email address.
- Open Gmail
- Go to the gear symbol (upper right)
- Select Settings
- Click on Filters and Blocked Addresses
- Click on Create a new filter
- In the From field, type: *uci.edu
- Click on Create filter with this search »
- Check Never send it to Spam
- Click on the Create filter button
Now, everything sent by and received from UCI email addresses will show up in your inbox, including messages sent by you as you create them or reply to others. To archive your sent messages, repeat the steps above to create a filter with the following conditions:
- From field: yourusername@ics.uci.edu
- Action to check: Skip the Inbox (Archive it)
Undergraduate ICS Gsuite Accounts
Ungraduate ICS Gsuite accounts are created on a case by case basis strictly for working with GCP projects. Project owners may send email to helpdesk@ics.uci.edu in order to have an undergraduate student included in the ugrad_gsuite group.
